Everydog Needs A Reason To Believe

January 18, 2016 by The Dog Rules

Daily Prompt: Reason To Believe  “In Reason to Believe, Bruce Springsteen sings, “At the end of every hard-earned day / people find some reason to believe.”

I tried to remember this song and didn’t quite succeed. The title of this prompt caused me to jump back in time to a song snippet by Jackson Browne. Now that tune is running through my head on my own personal memory music system. The exact lyrics are:

“Everyone I know, everywhere I go
People need some reason to believe
I don’t know about anyone but me”

People aren’t the only ones who need to believe. Dogs have that built into them too. They need to know that their person is there for them. Always. That they are in a kind and respectful partnership with a sometimes unfathomable two-legged creature given to odd behavior traits, like hugging them. Someone who takes them along on great adventures like hikes up the mountain or for a c-a-r  r-i-d-e (I need to spell that out and not actually say it if there will be any delay heading to the car).

Speaking of hikes up the mountain, I have to go on one now. My house guest has been poking me with his nose.

Now we're all ready to GO!

Now we’re all ready to GO!

I have two rescue Lab-mixes, and I have to spell w-a-l-k and p-a-r-k in front of them too. I don’t know what I would do without my furry companions either.

Was the Reply button added automatically? How did The Dog Rules get to Reason to Believe with the Reply button? I understand a prompt is like a trolling, but don’t know how to hover and make buttons and click. Was it covered in an earlier assignment? I lost assignments 4-7 somehow.

Great response. I have to spell car ride with my dog too. She gets so excited it she thinks she is getting to go somewhere. And, you are correct, dogs need someone they can count on. It’s sad that so many don’t have that.

I really enjoyed your doggy flavoured ‘reason to believe’, especially spelling our ‘car ride’. What a lovely blog post, thank you 🙂

In June last year we got a cockapoo puppy and I know exactly what you mean in this post! Dogs can be challenging and frustrating at times but they also bring so much fun and happiness so it balances out! This is the first time we have had a dog so we’re slowly working what works and what doesn’t! I’m look forward to reading more of your posts and I will hopefully pick up a few tips on the way 🙂

That’s so cool that you started a blog as a tribute to your furry friends. Lovely guest.

The Dog Rules

Once the proud guardian of a rather cheeky Border Collie/Aussie Cattle Dog mix, may she forever rest in peace, my favourite activities were those things that included my canine friend. Now I have a new canine buddy in my life. He's also a Border Collie and sassy like my girl was. We're in the middle of an adventure; teaching him how to be a good canine citizen I spend my spare time volunteering at the local animal shelter as a dog walker/trainer.
